This tour starts quite special. You will be picked up by Kurt in a Tesla X at 10:00 in front of Ishavhotel in the city centre. Since the car has just 5 seats + driver we knew, this tour will be quite private. And it was. Having a small group at a snowshoeing tour is more important than on other tours. With a small group the guide has more freedom in choosing the best trail and finding the right pace that fits everybody.

Our guide Kurt took us from Tromsø to the inner part of Kvaløya, to his favourite hike. We started from a valley with at least 2 meters of snow. The landscape was from a different world and the weather was pleasant. From there we went up a slight slope, along a ridge and then over to a mountain top. The views were amazing the whole time, but at the top it was just perfection. The mountain top we were standing on was right in between two fjords and offered a spectacular 360°-view.

Kurt, our guide and your future guide, was talking and explaining about the nature of the North along the way. He made it interesting the whole time, also in the car. Kurt grew up here and has been doing the snowshoe tours for years. The experience and knowledge he has about this region was palpable. He also did a great job in keeping us safe the whole time. And not only that but he had also coffee and tea with him, which was very pleasant to have at the top.

He was a great guide, left no questions unanswered and we felt we were in the right hands for a snowshoeing tour. The tour wasn’t lacking anything. It was entertaining the whole time, we got to see amazing views and it was a lot of fun walking through the knee-deep snow.
