At 9:50 we were approached by our skipper for the day in front of Ishavshotel. He took us directly to the boat where we were welcomed by 3 other crew members. Young and old Norwegians who grew up and lived their whole life on a boat. We knew we were in good hands. First, we got an introduction to the boat and to the safety rules, after that we set for the tour. It’s different to see Tromsø from the sea, different in a beautiful way. It took the boat about 20 minutes to get Tromsø out of eyesight. And that’s when the tour really started.

The view from the boat. Breathtaking views for 5 hours straight.

We don’t want to share too much, but from this moment there was always something going on. First on the program was wildlife spotting by a small island and the crew went above and beyond with it. They did an amazing job in looking for wildlife. After that we were shown an old military base with a submarine bunker, which was held as a secret until the end of the Cold War. We continued to a frozen fjord and made a stop along the way for fishing in a remote area. Everybody who wanted could try their luck and it was a lot of fun. Some guests got lucky and caught enough for everybody. The crew prepared the fish then and everybody could try the freshly caught fish. It was delicious.

The tour was a lot of fun, we drove to very interesting places and the crew was just perfect. Very friendly guys, they had a lot of knowledge about the area and it was their thing, being on a boat, to fish and just being on the sea. It’s a great trip and we highly recommend seeing the arctic also from a boat with those guys!

HOW DO WE DO IT? We try them out

Having the experience of the tour by ourselves is vital to our concept. Crucial to us is communication, customer service, authenticity and the fun factor. If deemed as a suitable tour, we write an article about it in our blog, where we share with our guests why it’s great, why we choose this tour and what they can expect. Those providers are then regarded by us as Provider of Excellence.
