The vision
Giæver Vertskap was established in 2017 with a vision to create better experiences for guests in Tromsø.
Founder, Joachim Marthinsen Giæver started small in 2013 and has since welcomed guests from all over the world. He was thus one of the very first Airbnb hosts in Tromsø.
This type of hosting was considered a niche, but Joachim quickly realized that his passion was to always believe in the concept.
The feedback
The feedback from guests confirmed that there was a need in the market, and we are proud to have been invited by Airbnb to Paris to represent Airbnb Open in 2015 – an event for hosts from all over the world. This provided important lessons and motivation to invest in this market.
When tourism began to pick up speed in the 2016 / 2017 season, there were consequently many people who took an interest in Airbnb. In this context, Giæver Vertskap was contacted based on the guests’ feedback on the profiles.
The season of 2016/2017 was in many ways the birth of the company, which at this point had seven rental units. In line with demand, the company has since then increased, both in scope, but not least in experience and expertise.
Own experience
Based on the genuine interest of the guest’s total experience, and not least their own passion, the hosts in Giæver Vertskap have their own experiences from trips, experiences and accommodation that we recommend. We do this to ensure that the products we offer are in line with our vision and our original concept.
Today, Giæver Vertskap has a number of varied housing units in and around the Tromsø region. The company is professional and well thought out in all aspects of the business, and Joachim himself is still active in the operation, both in the relationship with the homeowners and the guests.
The experience is that it is still the most important factor; Namely, to be a good host for Tromsø’s visitors
